Recap: Elizabeth Forward Warriors vs. Greensburg Salem Golden Lions
The Elizabeth Forward Warriors entered their tilt with the Greensburg Salem Golden Lions with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Elizabeth Forward blew past Greensburg Salem 48-13 at home. Considering Elizabeth Forward has won six contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Elizabeth Forward found their leader in underclassman Ryan Messina, who threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Isaiah Turner was another key contributor, picking up 126 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Although Greensburg Salem took the loss, they still got scores from Keegan Young and Brody Chismar.
Elizabeth Forward's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 8-2 Knoch and 8-2 East Allegheny (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60% over those games). As for Greensburg Salem, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Elizabeth Forward will head out on the road to face off against Belle Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Belle Vernon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 214 points over their last four matches. As for Greensburg Salem, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Allegheny at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Allegheny has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 25.
