Basketball Game Preview: Brookfield Bobcats vs. Bassick Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Brookfield Bobcats take on the Bassick Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday... Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Brookfield managed to keep up with Pomperaug until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Brookfield lost 68-47 to Pomperaug. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bobcats have suffered against the Panthers since February 11, 2020.

Meanwhile, Bassick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Academy of Science and Innovation, falling 64-42. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Ravens are ranked 33rd).

Brookfield dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Bassick, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Brookfield didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bassick in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 60-56 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brookfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
