Basketball Game Preview: Charleston Bluejays vs. Woodland Cardinals

The Charleston Bluejays will challenge the Woodland Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Charleston's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests.

Woodland is facing Charleston at the wrong time: Charleston suffered their first home loss of the season on Saturday and they're likely out for redemption. They were beaten by the Bulldogs 96-57. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 16th).

Charleston's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Trenez Lane, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points, and Tayshon Clark, who posted 14 points. That's the most points Clark has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Treshaun Schandon, who had ten points and six boards.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Woodland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They took their game on Monday with ease, bagging an 84-53 victory over Meadow Heights. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Woodland pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.1 points over those games. As for Charleston, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
