Softball Game Preview: Norwalk Bears vs. Trumbull Eagles

Norwalk has won three straight games at home, while Trumbull has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Bears will welcome the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Norwalk 2.5, Trumbull 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Norwalk and Notre Dame Prep meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Bears skirted past the Lancers 3-1.

Maddie Collins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Norwalk saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoey Wilds, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trumbull). They never let Stamford get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Norwalk is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Trumbull, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
