Football Recap: Grace Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Grace walked away with it. They walked away with a 41-28 win over the Yucca Valley Trojans on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Lancers, who have now won seven matchups in a row.

Grace's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Williams, who rushed for 257 yards and three TDs. Williams showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 57 yards. Landon Cooper also helped out with an impressive 111 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Grace was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 408 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

When it comes to explaining why Yucca Valley lost, don't look at Clyde King. Despite the final result, he picked up 139 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 115 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. King's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 115 rushing yards. Aiden Shannon was another key player, throwing for 252 yards and one TD.

Grace's record now sits at 9-3. As for Yucca Valley, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Grace will venture away from home to challenge Coachella Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mighty Arabs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. Yucca Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
