Softball Recap: Mountain View Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mountain View won against Marshall last Wednesday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Vikings beat the Rosemead Panthers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 18-1. Considering the Vikings have won four games by more than ten runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Leanna Ramirez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while going 3-for-5. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on DJ Herrera, who scored five runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Ashley Saldivar, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosemead only posted an OBP of .345.

The victory (which was Mountain View's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Rosemead, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Mountain View has already played their next contest, a 7-5 defeat against Arroyo on the 2nd. As for Rosemead, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 24-3 victory against Marshall on the 2nd.
