Recap: College Park Falcons vs. Ygnacio Valley Wolves
The College Park Falcons were the 64-51 winner over the Ygnacio Valley Wolves when they last played one another back in February of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. College Park took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ygnacio Valley on Thursday. While losing is never fun, College Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while Ygnacio Valley is ranked 150th).
Defeat or not, College Park got some senior leadership from Miles Smith who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals and Connor Whittles who scored 17 points. Deegan Sullenger was another key contributor, scoring no points along with six assists and two steals.
Even though they lost, College Park were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. This was only their ninth loss (out of 14 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
It was another big night for Antonio Kellogg Jr, who scored 28 points along with four steals and two blocks for Ygnacio Valley. Kellogg Jr continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Todd Tatom Jr, who scored ten points along with five assists and five steals.
College Park has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Ygnacio Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.
College Park will head out on the road to square off against Concord at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Concord is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Ygnacio Valley will take on Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
