Basketball Recap: Dillon Mason's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southlake Christian Academy over Gaston Christian

SouthLake Christian Academy lost against Gaston Christian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The SouthLake Christian Academy Eagles lost to the Gaston Christian Eagles at home by a 67-49 margin. While losing is never fun, SouthLake Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Gaston Christian is ranked 16th).

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dillon Mason, who posted 17 points. That was a full 34.7% of SouthLake Christian Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Pierre Gardner, who earned 14 points.

Leading Gaston Christian to victory were Kendall Southern and Jeremy Duhon. Southern went 6-for-10 to rack up 16 points, while Duhon went 5-for-9 on his way to 18 points. What's more, Southern also posted a 80% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in November of 2024. Giannis Katsoulas was another key player, putting up nine points and five assists.

This is the second loss in a row for SouthLake Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 12-15. As for Gaston Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won 17 of their last 21 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.

SouthLake Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 75-58 victory against Carolina Day on the 11th. As for Gaston Christian, they have also already played their next game, a 78-33 win against Fayetteville Christian on the 11th.
