St. Rita has gone a perfect 10-0 against DePaul College Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Mustangs will challenge the Rams at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when St. Rita and Saint Ignatius College Prep meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Wolfpack by a score of 6-5.

St. Rita got a good showing from Nick Cegielski, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Cegielski has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Angel Castro was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Joe Camer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, DePaul College Prep fell victim to Chicago Mt. Carmel and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Caravan. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Caravan recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

DePaul College Prep saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Sacchetti, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

St. Rita's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-15. As for DePaul College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-7.

St. Rita beat DePaul College Prep 6-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
