Baseball Recap: Carver Vo-Tech Triumphs

The matchup between Carver Vo-Tech and Edmondson-Westside on Friday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. Carver Vo-Tech never let Edmondson-Westside get on the board and left with a 26-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Red Storm: they've now won four in a row.

Shawn White made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Levar Moore was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Shakira Gardner was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The win got Carver Vo-Tech back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Carver Vo-Tech will welcome Douglass at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Edmondson-Westside, they will square off against Poly on Monday.
