Volleyball Recap: Kouts Takes a Loss

After flying high against DeMotte Christian last Saturday, Kouts came back down to earth. The Mustangs & Fillies came up short against the Washington Township Senators on Monday, falling 3-0. The Mustangs & Fillies were not able to make up for their defeat to the Senators from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

While Kouts was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-23, 25-15.

Jake Boomer paced Kouts' offense, picking up seven kills. Boomer got some help from Gavin DeYoung and his eight assists.

Leading Washington Township to victory were Porter Scott and Ethan Skrzypczak. Scott had ten digs, while Skrzypczak had eight digs and two assists. Those eight digs gave Skrzypczak a new career-high.

The loss snapped Kouts' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record. As for Washington Township, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Coming up, Kouts will square off against La Porte at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs & Fillies are facing the Slicers at the right time seeing as the Slicers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Washington Township, they will challenge Valparaiso at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
