Football Recap: Franklinton Demons vs. Abbeville Wildcats
While Franklinton's win against Abbeville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Demons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 33-30 victory over the Wildcats on Thursday. Given the Demons' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Wildcats are ranked 215th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Abbeville lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Dazavien Maze, who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 31 yards. A healthy portion of Maze's aerial production (91 yards to be exact) went to Braylon Himel, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Franklinton now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Abbeville, their record now sits at 2-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklinton will square off against Pearl River at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Abbeville, they will challenge Kaplan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season.
