League recap: French Camp Academy extends winning streak with victory over Montgomery County

1A Region 2 recap Oct. 23, 2012

French Camp Academy extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 2 this week by beating Montgomery County, 53-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Panthers.

French Camp Academy led the league in scoring this week after putting up 53 points on the Hornets. Jesse Hosket threw for 146 yards and four touchdowns in the win.

Nathan Wright's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Jaylon Clemons chipped in 157 yards. Hunter McKnight helped French Camp Academy's passing attack out by catching four balls for 36 yards.

Hagan Box was the best wideout in the league this week as the Panthers defeated Montgomery County. Box racked up two receptions for 43 yards.

Lewis Caldwell made the biggest impact on defense this week as Brooks bested McAdams. The junior forced one fumble and racked up 1.5 sacks.

6-foot-3 quarterback Raines Rester of St. Joseph is the league leader in passing yards this season with 765. He has also thrown eight touchdowns. On the ground, French Camp Academy's Clemons has rushed for 979 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Octavius Stimmage. The Shaw star has nine catches for 295 yards.

The Panthers' Clemons needs only 21 yards against Durant next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Tigers take on French Camp Academy. Durant is currently in fifth, while the Panthers are in first.
