Natomas entered their tilt with Laguna Creek on Saturday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They had just enough and edged the Laguna Creek Cardinals out 60-58. Given the Nighthawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Cardinals are ranked 574th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Natomas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alfred Wilkins, who posted 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Those seven boards gave Wilkins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aeron Wallace, who put up 12 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Natomas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Laguna Creek still got an impressive performance from Titus King, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 16 boards. Another player making a difference was Jaylan Virgil, who scored 19 points.

Natomas pushed their record up to 20-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Laguna Creek, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-19.

Natomas wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-54 defeat against Casa Roble on the 11th. As for Laguna Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 87-64 loss against Franklin on the 12th.
