Softball Recap: Lafayette Commodores vs. DeSoto Central Jaguars
Lafayette lost against DeSoto Central back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lafayette Commodores took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the DeSoto Central Jaguars.

Jenny Dreher was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Dreher wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Cregar, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Cregar launched this season.
Even though they lost, Lafayette lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for DeSoto Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Looking ahead, Lafayette will take on Lake Cormorant at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for DeSoto Central, they will challenge West Jones at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. DeSoto Central is facing West Jones at the right time seeing as West Jones is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
