Basketball Recap: Southport Cardinals vs. Roncalli Royals
Southport was the 51-49 winner over Roncalli when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Southport Cardinals fell 63-54 to the Roncalli Royals on Tuesday. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Southport still got an impressive performance from James Kalala, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. Kalala is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last ten games he's played. Malik Sims also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Even though they lost, Southport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Southport's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Roncalli, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southport will take on Mt. Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Roncalli, they will square off against Lafayette Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
