Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jazmin Johnson and Kamiya Webb Lead Midfield to Victory

Midfield strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pleasant Grove Spartans, sneaking past 42-40. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 56-49 win the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Midfield was led to victory by Kamiya Webb and Jazmin Johnson. Webb dropped a double-double with 16 points and 24 boards, while Johnson posted 12 points and four steals. Webb is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 34 games she's played dating back to last season.

Midfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Midfield's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Pleasant Grove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Midfield will take on Gadsden City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pleasant Grove, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Hillcrest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
