Football Recap: Cornwall Central Skates Past Our Lady of Lourdes with Ease

After only three points in their last game, Cornwall Central made sure to put some points up on the board against Our Lady of Lourdes on Friday. The Dragons breezed past the Warriors to the tune of 62-20. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Dragons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Warriors are ranked 195th).

Jordan Bishop continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 191 yards and five TDs on only 15 carries. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Danny Twomey was another key player, rushing for 25 yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cornwall Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 289 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Cornwall Central's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Gabe Colsant was especially locked on to Our Lady of Lourdes' QB and sacked him twice.

Cornwall Central pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.8 points over those games. As for Our Lady of Lourdes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Cornwall Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Ballston Spa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Our Lady of Lourdes, they will head out on the road to square off against Minisink Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
