Baseball Game Preview: Emmaus Hornets vs. Louis E. Dieruff Huskies

Emmaus is a perfect 7-0 against Louis E. Dieruff since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Emmaus' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Louis E. Dieruff's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Sunday, Emmaus made easy work of Muhlenberg and carried off an 8-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Meanwhile, Louis E. Dieruff had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Pocono Mountain West by a score of 5-2 on Monday. The matchup marked the Huskies' most dominant win of the season.

Jean Varela made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Frawvely Peralta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Julian Madison, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Emmaus now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Louis E. Dieruff, their record is now 3-12.

Everything went Emmaus' way against Louis E. Dieruff in their previous matchup on April 2nd, as Emmaus made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
