Recap: Newton Falls Tigers vs. Brookfield Warriors
The Newton Falls Tigers won the last time they faced the Brookfield Warriors, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Newton Falls came out on top against Brookfield by a score of 53-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Newton Falls.
Jabriel Rufai continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Caden Clonch, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Despite the loss, Brookfield still got an impressive performance from Matteo Fortuna, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 50% of Brookfield's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Judah Dejoy, who scored seven points.
Newton Falls has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Brookfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newton Falls will face off against Champion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newton Falls is facing Champion at the right time seeing as Champion is stuck on a six-game losing streak. Brookfield will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Garfield at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Brookfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
