Basketball Recap: Wil Dabbondanza and Zeke Dabbondanza Secure Win for Magruder

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Magruder had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Watkins Mill Wolverines by a score of 78-66. This was a revenge game for the Colonels: when they faced off against the Wolverines back in February, they had to take a 68-65 loss.

Magruder was led to victory by Zeke Dabbondanza and Wil Dabbondanza. Zeke shot 69% from the field to rack up 21 points and four steals, while Wil almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Wil a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jonah Wertlieb, who posted nine points and six boards.

Magruder's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Watkins Mill, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Magruder will head out to challenge Sherwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Magruder has given up an average of 60.8 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. Watkins Mill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
