Baseball Game Preview: Austin Black Bears vs. Huntsville Panthers

Austin is 2-8 against Huntsville since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Austin will square off against Huntsville at 4:30 p.m. Austin has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Austin is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Morgan.

Jaxon Potter was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Tyler Parker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Huntsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckhorn. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly three runs.

Huntsville's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Austin, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-16.

Austin suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Huntsville in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Austin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
