Preview: Anahuac Panthers vs. Sam Rayburn Texans
The Anahuac Panthers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Sam Rayburn Texans at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th. Anahuac knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Sam Rayburn likes a good challenge.
Anahuac pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 69-61 to Vinton. While losing is never fun, Anahuac can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 1001st in Texas, while Vinton is ranked 110th in Louisiana).
Sam Rayburn fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Van Vleck by a score of 39-31 on Friday. The team accrued 28 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.
Anahuac has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Sam Rayburn, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
Everything went Anahuac's way against Sam Rayburn in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as Anahuac made off with a 55-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Anahuac since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
