Basketball Recap: Hardin Takes a Loss

After flying high against Anahuac on Tuesday, Hardin came back down to earth. The Hornets fell 62-49 to the Buna Cougars on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Buna's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaiden Epps led the charge by going 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Epps a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Another player making a difference was Raylee Harding, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Hardin's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Buna, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hardin is set to square off against their familiar foe East Chambers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Buna will challenge rival Orangefield at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
