Basketball Recap: Riverton Comes Up Short

Riverton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They took a blow against the Lewistown Indians, falling 74-16. The Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-8.

Keirstan Shamblin was Riverton's leading scorer, having posted six points. Shamblin also led the team in rebounds with four. Briannah Walker took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Lewistown was led to victory by Joley McLaughlin and Abby Wiegand. McLaughlin almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Wiegand went 6 of 10 on her way to 18 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. That's the most assists Wiegand has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Carsyn Braun, who went 5 for 11 to rack up 13 points along with five boards and four steals.

Riverton's loss dropped their record down to 2-25. As for Lewistown, their record is now 11-17.

Riverton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-10 defeat against Pleasant Plains on the 10th. As for Lewistown, they have also already played their next match, a 45-30 victory against Farmington on the 10th.
