Baseball Recap: Elko Takes a Loss

Elko lost against Dayton on Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Indians fell 19-15 to the Dust Devils. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Adam Roumanos and Ryder Miller stepped up to the plate in a big way. Roumanos went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double, while Miller went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Miller is becoming a predictor of Elko's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 11-12 when he doesn't). Travis Monett was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Elko's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Dayton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12.

Coming up, Elko will venture away from home to take on Fernley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vaqueros will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dayton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lowry at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Dust Devils are facing the Buckaroos at the right time seeing as the Buckaroos are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
