Hopewell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Miles Vanderspuy out in front who rushed for 161 yards on only 14 carries. Kareem Marshall helped out on the ground, rushing for 91 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Despite the loss, West Mecklenburg had strong showings from Shawn Blackshear, who rushed for 84 yards and one score on only 11 carries, and Drake Lineberger, who threw for 185 yards and one touchdown.

Hopewell picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-5. As for West Mecklenburg, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9.
