Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Bulldogs vs. Birmingham Patriots

The Centennial Bulldogs will face off against the Birmingham Patriots at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centennial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Centennial is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Liberty, who was ranked fourth at the time (Centennial was ranked seventh). The Bulldogs fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 7-5 on Thursday.

Jake Turner put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple.

In other batting news, Noa Oyadomari made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Tyler Jackson was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Birmingham's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost 9-3 to Palo Verde.

Birmingham's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Centennial, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-8.

Centennial took their win against Birmingham in their previous matchup back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
