Basketball Recap: West Clermont's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

West Clermont put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down the Walnut Hills Eagles 55-38. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

West Clermont got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bella Swisshelm out in front who went 9-for-13 on her way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. The contest was Swisshelm's eighth in a row with at least 15 points. Layla Hale was another key player, putting up 15 points.

West Clermont's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Walnut Hills, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.

West Clermont and Walnut Hills should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Wolves will face off against Fairfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (11 vs. 370). Meanwhile, Walnut Hills (ranked 27th) will meet Loveland (ranked 222nd) at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2026.
