Preview: Central Bears vs. Umatilla Bulldogs
The Central Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Umatilla Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Central is ranked 490th, while Umatilla is ranked 500th).
Last Friday, Central was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 20-14 to Weeki Wachee. Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Timothy Gaynor put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Umatilla's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. Their tough 42-20 loss to The Villages Charter might stick with them for a while. Umatilla was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-7.
The losses dropped Central to 2-7 and Umatilla to 1-8.
Central took a serious blow against Umatilla in their previous meeting back in October of 2021, falling 44-14. Thankfully for Central, Jeric Hutto (who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also picked up 63 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
