Basketball Recap: Marcos De Niza's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Marcos de Niza needed a changed in momentum after dropping four straight games and they got it from James Steward. The Marcos de Niza Padres strolled past the Combs Coyotes with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 66-48 thanks in part to Steward, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 14 rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 20 games he's played dating back to last season.

Another player making a difference was Solo Washington, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. What's more, he also racked up three steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Combs lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaimin Amador, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds. Skyler Lawrence was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Marcos de Niza's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Combs, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marcos de Niza will challenge Tempe at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Combs is facing Eastmark at the right time seeing as Eastmark is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
