Basketball Game Preview: Maypearl Panthers vs. Keene Chargers

Maypearl is 1-9 against Keene since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Maypearl Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Keene Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Maypearl lost 70-49 to Palmer on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1294th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 405th).

Meanwhile, Keene was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-44 heartbreaker at the hands of Grandview. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Chargers have suffered since December 13, 2024.

Keene's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Maypearl, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-23.

Maypearl might still be hurting after the 68-48 loss they got from Keene when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Maypearl avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
