Volleyball Recap: Billerica Memorial Indians vs. Chelmsford Lions
Billerica Memorial lost against Chelmsford back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Indians took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 5, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Billerica Memorial started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-18.
Kendra Marino paced Billerica Memorial's offense, picking up eight kills. Marino got some help from Meghan Downs and her 19 assists. Downs was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Chelmsford had a senior duo take command as Brianna Cairns had 21 digs and two aces and Tiffany Vu had 13 digs. Cairns has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.
Billerica Memorial's loss ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-10. As for Chelmsford, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.
