Basketball Game Preview: Bureau Valley Storm vs. ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars

The Bureau Valley Storm will face off against the ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Bureau Valley will be strutting in after a victory while ROWVA/Williamsfield will be coming in after a loss.

Bureau Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Galva 86-44 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Storm have posted since January 4, 2024.

Bureau Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kadyn Haage, who went 5 of 8 en route to 15 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Haage a new career-high in shooting accuracy (63%). Libby Endress was another key player, going 7 for 9 on her way to 16 points.

Bureau Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, ROWVA/Williamsfield fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The Cougars just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Bureau Valley's win bumped their record up to 11-19. As for ROWVA/Williamsfield, their loss dropped their record down to 6-19.

Bureau Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over ROWVA/Williamsfield when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 45-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bureau Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
