Baseball Recap: New Athens Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only New Athens walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Dupo Tigers 4-2. The win continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won eight in a row.

Brett Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, New Athens saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lane Kimbrell, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

New Athens' record now sits at 13-9. As for Dupo, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.

As of now, neither New Athens nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
