Basketball Recap: Franklinton Comes Up Short

Franklinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 89-55 loss at the hands of the Northern Nash Knights. The Red Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-21.

Franklinton's loss came despite strong showings from Darius Slankard and Harrison Long. Slankard went 5 for 11 en route to 15 points and five boards, while Long posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Long a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Chan Thomas, who had eight points.

Northern Nash found their leader in sophomore CJ Rosser Jr., who went 9 of 13 to rack up 26 points and five rebounds. The game was Rosser Jr.'s sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Kingston Little was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points and six boards.

Franklinton's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Northern Nash, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-5.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Rocky Mount the next time they take the court. Northern Nash will host Rocky Mount at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while Franklinton will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
