Basketball Game Preview: Menomonie Mustangs vs. Chippewa Falls Cardinals

The Menomonie Mustangs will take on the Chippewa Falls Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Menomonie is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 1, 2024 on Friday. They lost 70-47 to Eau Claire Memorial. The Mustangs have struggled against the Old Abes recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Chippewa Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 74-46 defeat at the hands of New Richmond. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while the Tigers are ranked 145th).

Chippewa Falls' loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Menomonie, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Menomonie strolled past Chippewa Falls in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 71-56. Does Menomonie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chippewa Falls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
