Preview: Amanda Elzy Panthers vs. Winona Tigers
Two dominant signal callers in Jevarion Glover and Chase Richardson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Amanda Elzy Panthers are on the road again on Friday and play against the Winona Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Amanda Elzy had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They really took it to Mooreville for the full four quarters, racking up a 44-2 victory on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-2.
Amanda Elzy relied on the efforts of Martize Lott, who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and Glover, who threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns while completing 88.2% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Winona put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against East Webster as Winona made off with a 49-26 victory. Winona's victory was all the more impressive since East Webster was averaging only 16.69 points allowed on the season.
Zaishun Nash and Richardson were among the main playmakers for Winona as the former rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries and the latter rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Their wins bumped Amanda Elzy to 8-4 and Mooreville to 9-4.
Amanda Elzy was dealt a bruising 38-6 loss at the hands of Winona when the teams last played back in October. Can Amanda Elzy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
