Football Recap: Faulkton Piles Up the Points Against Burke

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Faulkton had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 61-22 victory over the Burke Cougars. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 34 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Burke had strong showings from Elijah Bartling, who picked up 74 receiving yards and two TDs, and Ryggan Lambley, who rushed for 62 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. Lambley's longest rush was for an impressive 54 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

The win (which was Faulkton's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.8 points over those games. As for Burke, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Faulkton will square off against Sully Buttes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Trojans 12.8, the Chargers 9.2) so any points scored will be well earned. Burke does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
