Baseball Recap: Mt. Zion's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Mt. Zion won the last time they faced North Clayton and things went their way on Monday too. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 7-3. The victory was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on five straight.

Nick Pearson was a standout: he scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. Mt. Zion is undefeated when Pearson posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Arthur Holt IV, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Mt. Zion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .553 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Mt. Zion's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Clayton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Zion will head out to challenge Stephenson at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Clayton, they will venture away from home to take on Cedar Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
