Volleyball Recap: Village Christian Finds Playoff Glory Versus Hemet + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Village Christian had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Hemet Bulldogs. The victory was familiar territory for the Crusaders, who have now won four contests in a row.

Village Christian had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-20.

Village Christian was led to victory by Talia Mardrussian and Mackenize Larsen. Mardrussian had six digs and two aces, while Larsen had 13 kills and 11 digs. Mardrussian has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played. Shaila Garcia also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Village Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in four consecutive matchups.

Village Christian now has a winning record of 17-16. As for Hemet, their defeat ended a ten-match streak of away wins and brought them to 26-4.

Coming up, Village Christian will challenge Millikan at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hemet does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
