Recap: Granville Central Panthers vs. South Granville Vikings
The Granville Central Panthers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against South Granville, falling 56-7. Granville Central has struggled against South Granville recently, as their game on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Luke Sharon threw for 106 yards on seven of 15 attempts. Trent Harrington was his top target, picking up 100 receiving yards.
Cameron Dennison went supernova for South Granville, rushing for 203 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Dennison was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamar Hicks, who rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Granville Central's defeat was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.1 points per game. As for South Granville, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5.
Granville Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. South Granville will head out on the road to face off against Whiteville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Whiteville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
