Basketball Recap: Houston Piles Up the Points Against Cordova

Houston had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 40-point drubbing they dealt Cordova on Tuesday. The Houston Mustangs really took it to the Cordova Wolves for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-32 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.

Houston got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mckenzie Percoski out in front who went 8-for-17 on her way to 22 points and four steals. What's more, Percoski also posted a 44% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Laila Mcnamee was another key player, putting up 20 points along with six boards and five assists.

Houston was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Houston has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points over those games. As for Cordova, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Looking ahead, Houston will challenge Southwind at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Houston has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Cordova, they will host Arlington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
