Mac Jones, a regional Elite 11 winner, has flipped his college choice from Kentucky to Alabama.
Kids commit early and kids flip early. But when it's a quarterback, it's bigger news.
Especially one of the talents of
Mac Jones, a four-star quarterback from
Bolles (Jacksonville, Fla.) who Tuesday night announced on Twitter he was flipping from Kentucky to Alabama.
"I am 100 percent committed to the University of Alabama!" Jones wrote.
He told
BamaOnLine: "I'm excited to be with the best players. It's not about me, it's about getting them the ball."
Alabama, which is No. 2 in the
247Sports team recruiting rankings for 2017, has pledges from the nation's No. 1 overall recruit, running back
Najee Harris from
Antioch (Calif.) and 5-star offensive tackle
Alex Leatherwood from
Booker T. Washington (Pensacola, Fla.).
The Tide also has a commitment from 4-star quarterback
Tua Tagovailoa, from
St. Louis (Honolulu, Hawaii).
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Jones attended an Alabama camp on Tuesday before making the flip. He has 22 offers and is the No. 284 recruit overall according to the
247Sports Composite and No. 14 pro-style quarterback. He was an Elite 11 regional winner but was not selected Sunday to be a part of the finals at The Opening in July.
Tagovailoa (6-1, 215), an Elite 11 finalist, is No. 63 overall and No. 2 ranked dual-threat QB.
