Basketball Recap: Charlotte Catholic's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, Charlotte Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to the Butler Bulldogs 65-61. The game was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but the Cougars couldn't quite close it out.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chris Eagan, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 14 points and eight boards. Eagan is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 52% in the last 12 games he's played. King Rhodes was another key player, shooting 42% from the field en route to 13 points.

Even though they lost, Charlotte Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. This was only their third loss (out of 22 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Terrance Badio was his usual excellent self, going 8-for-17 on his way to 24 points and five rebounds for Butler. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Milligan, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Charlotte Catholic's record is now 20-6. As for Butler, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11.

Charlotte Catholic has already played their next matchup, a 53-52 defeat against Hopewell on the 25th. As for Butler, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-32 loss against Independence on the 21st.
