Black River lost to Mapleton back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Mounties with a sharp 3-0 victory.

While Black River won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-18, 25-23.

Jenevieve Dieter paced Black River's offense, picking up 11 kills. Dieter got some help from Morgan Kubitz and her 35 assists. Dieter was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Black River's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Mapleton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Black River will challenge Firelands at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mapleton, they will take on Western Reserve at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
