Baseball Game Preview: Elk Rapids Elks vs. Harbor Springs Rams

The Elk Rapids Elks will head out on the road to square off against the Harbor Springs Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Elk Rapids is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since April 21st on Friday. They lost 10-0 to Gaylord. The game marked the first time this season in which the Elks were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Harbor Springs had just enough and edged out Johannesburg-Lewiston 4-2 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Ben McShannock made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McShannock was also big at the plate, earning one run and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andru Vernale, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Nolan Kennedy also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Elk Rapids' defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Harbor Springs, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Everything went Elk Rapids' way against Harbor Springs in their previous matchup on May 5th, as Elk Rapids made off with a 9-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Elks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
