Dublin is 1-9 against Granada since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Gaels will host the Matadors at 4:00 p.m. Dublin has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Dublin is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Thursday. They fell 11-8 to Monte Vista.
Caitlyn Carr and Lola Villalobos stepped up to the plate in a big way. Carr went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run, while Villalobos went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sydney Salazar, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Granada). They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over James Logan on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Matadors considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Ella Vonbergen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kallie Brannon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Maddie Bittman was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Granada always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Granada pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dublin, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
Dublin might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Granada in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Gaels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
