Football Game Preview: Escalon Cougars vs. Orestimba Warriors + How To Watch

The Escalon Cougars will challenge the Orestimba Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Orestimba took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Escalon, who comes in off a win.

Escalon will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up eight points last Friday, then bounced right back against Ripon on Friday. The Cougars came out on top against the Indians by a score of 35-28. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Escalon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Ball, who picked up 127 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 38 yards and one TD. Another signal caller making a difference was Logan Huebner, who threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes.

Meanwhile, Orestimba was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against Ripon Christian, falling 57-0. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 621st, while the Knights are ranked 160th).

Escalon's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Orestimba, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Escalon has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 164.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Orestimba struggles in that department as they've been averaging 151.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything came up roses for Escalon against Orestimba in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 41-14 win. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
