Soccer Game Preview: Avenal vs. Firebaugh

The Avenal Buccaneers will head out to challenge the Firebaugh Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Avenal will be strutting in after a victory while Firebaugh will be coming in after a defeat.

Avenal's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Coalinga. The victory was some much needed relief for the Buccaneers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Firebaugh's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coalinga on Saturday. The Eagles have struggled against the Horned Toads recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Firebaugh's loss dropped their record down to 7-18-1. As for Avenal, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-5-4.

Avenal came out on top in a nail-biter against Firebaugh when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Avenal since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
